Target Drugs and KRAS Gene
Cetuximab and panitumumab, the target monoclonal antibodies can inhibit EGFR downstream signal transduction. Studies had shown that patients with KRAS mutations will resist cetuximab and panitumumab, FDA indicates in the instruction of cetuximab and panitumumab that such drugs are not recommended to apply to colorectal cancer patients with KRAS mutations.
NCCN clinical practice guidelines in oncology：Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (Version 4.2016) suggested that pathological assessment should include the detection of KRAS gene mutation, which is one of the reasons for drug resistance. Therefore, KRAS mutation detection is recommanded before taking target drug therapies.
